Fifth Third Field has hosted the Dayton Dragons franchise of the Midwest League since the team joined the MWL in 2000. This ballpark was new at that time.

Fifth Third Field hosted the Midwest League All-Star Game in 2001.

The Midwest League plays Single-A, professional baseball in America's agricultural and industrial heartland. 16 teams play a 140 game schedule which begins in early April and ends Labor Day weekend.
