Robin Roberts Stadium at Lanphier Park

Lanphier Park (I've seen little evidence that anyone actually calls this field Robin Roberts Stadium) hosted the Springfield franchise of the Midwest League from 1982 through 1995. The facility dates from 1928 (I think; the sources are contradictory) and has been rebuilt several times, most recently in 1978. It's not clear when the Robin Roberts name was added. After the MWL left, Lanphier was home to the Frontier League's Springfield Capitals through 2001. The stadium remains in use; it is on the campus of Lanphier High School in Springfield and appears to be heavily scheduled for high school and college ball.

Source of Name: Lanphier is the name of the original land owners. Robin Roberts graduated from Lanphier High.

Jim Fitzpatrick Memorial Stadium

Fitzpatrick Stadium hosted the MOV's Springfield franchise in 1950. I have no information about this facility. Any help would be appreciated; Drop me a line.

Source of Name: It seems likely that Jim Fitzpatrick was related to team president J.R. Fitzpatrick.
