Memorial Stadium was constructed late in 1946 in anticipation of the 1947 ISL season. Memorial Stadium hosted the Illinois State League All-Star Game in 1947 and an Mississippi-Ohio Valley League All-Star Game in 1950. Source of Name: Not enough information. West Frankfort's a mining town and has many memorials to coal miners. This memorial may have been another of those, or may have been a war memorial. |
