Midwest League Managers

Dave Bialas

Two Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Signed: Cardinals, fourth round, 1972 (Catcher, Bellaire [Texas] HS)
  • Professional Career: 10 minor league seasons, almost entirely in the high minors, in the Cardinals organization.
  • Midwest League: Appeared in 33 MWL games in 1982 (while he was managing at Springfield), almost entirely as a DH.

Management style

Bialas is perhaps slightly conservative, but in most respects he's been a conventional manager. More than most long-time managers, his habits have adjusted to match changing tactical preferences; for instance, he used to let pitchers finish games fairly routinely, but no longer does so.
