Midwest League Managers

Marc Bombard

One Midwest League season:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Reds, apparently a free agent, 1971 (Pitcher, University of Texas at El Paso)
  • Professional Career: 7 minor league seasons in the Reds system, mostly at Tampa. Spent one season at the Double-A level.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League

Management style

All in all, Bombard's a rather conventional manager. He makes some allowance for the talent at hand, and is usually pretty conservative about letting the guys run. You really can't argue with these results; Bombard's an exceptional manager.

Note: My tally seems to be missing five wins and one loss, according to totals published elsewhere. The difference appears to be because I don't include playoff games in my counts. Also: Bombard has long participated in the Venezuelan Winter League; this table clearly does not adequately reflect that.
