Midwest League Managers

Nick Capra

One Midwest League season:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Rangers, third round, June, 1979 (second baseman, University of Oklahoma; Capra was a first-team All-American in 1979)
  • Professional Career: Sixteen minor league seasons, almost entirely at the Triple-A level. Played in 45 major league games, mostly with Texas.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League.

Management style

Capra's tactical decisions have changed a bit over the years. At this point, he's a bit more likely than most managers to call for an intentional walk, and he's always been pretty willing to order a sacrifice. While his teams have never been particularly likely to run, the most recent teams have been far more successful at stealing than his early teams were--which may well just mean that he no longer coaches at third.
