Midwest League Managers

Stan Cliburn

One Midwest League season:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Angels, fifth round, 1974 (catcher, Forest Hill HS [Jackson, MS])
  • Professional Career: Fourteen minor league seasons, mostly in the Eastern and Pacific Coast Leagues. Played 23 games with the Angels in 1980.
  • Midwest League: Played for Quad City in 1975 and 1976.

Management style

Cliburn's teams have, in general, been fairly likely to bunt. The baserunners aren't encouraged to run; when they do run, they're significantly less successful than other teams' runners.

Stan is Stu Cliburn's twin brother. Since Stan joined the Twins organization, Stu's usually been Stan's pitching coach--which is, oddly, appropriate.
