Midwest League Managers

Jim Colborn

Two Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Cubs, free agent, 1967 (Pitcher, Whittier College)
  • Professional Career: Ten major league seasons with the Cubs, Brewers, Royals, and Mariners. Colborn pitched a no-hitter for the Royals on May 14, 1977.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League.

Management style

Colborn's teams were super aggressive on the basepaths; they ran far more often than is common, and he often called for bunts. Oakland had his teams under severe pitch limits, which shows in the low completion totals.
