Midwest League Managers

Gomer Hodge

Seven Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Signed: Cleveland Indians, free agent, 1963
  • Professional Career: 13 minor league seasons, mostly at the Double-A level in the Cleveland system. Hodge appeared in 80 games for the Indians, almost exclusively as a pinch hitter, in 1971.
  • Midwest League: Played at Dubuque in 1963.

Management style

Hodge liked to sacrifice the runners along, and would let a good baserunner steal. His handling of the pitching staff was pretty conventional for the time and place.
