Midwest League Managers

Dave Jorn

Two Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: St. Louis, apparently a free agent, 1977 (or perhaps 1976)
  • Professional Career: Five minor league seasons, all in the Cardinals organization.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League.

Management style

Jorn was a classic "little-game" manager at South Bend: His baserunners ran wild (and ran well, one must acknowledge), he called for lots of intentional walks, and his guys bunted a lot. At Staten Island he was perhaps a tad less aggressive.

My standard sources are described here.

My thanks, as is often the case, for Jeff Yeo's assistance on this one.

The Midwest League plays Single-A, professional baseball in America's agricultural and industrial heartland. 16 teams play a 140 game schedule which begins in early April and ends Labor Day weekend.
