Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: California, 3rd round (June regular phase), 1973 (Catcher, Santa Maria [CA] HS)
  • Professional Career: Eleven minor league seasons in a variety of organizations, plus a couple appearances as a player while coaching in the minors. Appeared in three major league games with the Blue Jays in 1980.
  • Midwest League: Played for Quad Cities in 1974 and 1975.

Management style

Kelly's generally been a conventional manager for his entire career, though he calls for more bunts than most minor league skippers.
