Midwest League Managers

Lloyd Merritt

One Midwest League season:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Appears to have signed with the Yanks out of high school in 1951 (Pitcher; unknown school).
  • Professional Career: 9 professional seasons, mostly in the Yankee and Cardinals organizations in the high minor leagues. Appeared in 44 games for the Cards in 1957.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League. (Played for Quincy--then in the Three-I League--in 1954.)

Management style

Merritt liked stolen bases, but wasn't likely to issue intentional walks or call for sacrifice hits. For his time, he was quite likely to let a pitcher complete his game.
