Midwest League Managers

J.R. Miner

Junior

Two Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Signed by Mets as a minor league coach in 1970.
  • Professional Career: Did not play professionally.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League.

Management style

Except for the complete game thing, Miner was a pretty conventional manager. For his time, and for the leagues he worked in, he liked his pitchers to throw complete games; indeed, he was the last MWL manager who expected his pitchers to throw complete games.

Miner's 1986 team was effectively a cooperative team, as the Royals provided 10 players to that squad.
