Midwest League Managers

Jay Ward

Two Midwest League seasons:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Signed with the Yankees before the 1956 season.
  • Professional Career: 16 professional seasons, mainly at the Triple-A level, with one year in Japan. Appeared in 27 big league games with the Twins and the Reds.
  • Midwest League: Never played in the Midwest League.

Management style

It would be helpful to have more complete stats for Indy-league teams. When he was working in Organized Ball, Ward was a pretty conservative manager. His baserunners ran a bit less than usual, but their steal success rate was quite high.
