Notes, Issues, Sources, and Mysteries

  • Based on the box score in the 1995 Midwest League Yearbook, with slight help from perfunctory game accounts in the June 23, 1980, edition of the Burlington Hawk-Eye and the July 19 edition of The Sporting News--neither of which contained a box score. The team selections were published in the June 6 edition of the Hawk-Eye.
  • Waterloo manager Cal Emery led the North squad, while Quad City's Jim Napier was the Southern skipper. The game accounts didn't mention coaches.
  • No official game MVP was selected.
  • Selected, but did not play: Mike Kripner (C, Cedar Rapids), Rob Cummings (C, Clinton), Larry Buckle (P, Cedar Rapids), Benjie Biggus (P, Burlington), Chris Henry (C, Wausau), Jeff Vuksan (C, Appleton), Bruce Chaney (SS, Waterloo), Arnie McCrary (OF, Wausau), Dennis Vasquez (P, Appleton), and Larry Hrynko (P, Waterloo). None of these players were at the game, as both managers used every player on the bench.
