Midwest League 2008All-Star GameWest 5, East 4 (10 innings)The 2008 Midwest League All-Star Game was played at Midland's (ie, Great Lakes') Dow Diamond on June 17, 2008. Clinton outfielder Tim Smith was the game's MVP; he hit a home run to lead off the Western Division tenth inning. Winning pitcher was Peoria's Blake Parker; Miguel Ramirez of the host Loons took the loss. Box score; game write-up. Team selections were announced on June 6, and are listed below. Team members were selected by a poll of the League's managers and coaches taken during late May. For the purposes of this game, Quad Cities is an Eastern Division team. The managers and coaching staffs were those of the leading teams in each division at the close of the first half of the season--Lansing (Clayton McCullough and staff) and Clinton (Mike Micucci and staff). You may wish to compare these teams with my late-May assessment of the MWL's Best Players. |
